The man's car was hit several times
A Birmingham man who was shot dead in a drive-by shooting died from gunshot wounds to the head and chest.

Jahanzab Khan, aged 25, from the Lozells area of the city, had been on his way back from prayer at a local mosque when a passing car fired shots at his vehicle.

A post mortem examination revealed he had been shot several times in the head and chest.

The incident happed at about 2030 GMT on Tuesday on Rupert Street in Nechells.

He died on Thursday when his life support machine was turned off.

Murder inquiry

Police have launched a murder inquiry into the death of the father-of-three.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said Mr Khan was married and had three young daughters.

Police have been carrying out house-to-house inquiries and have resumed a search of the area.

A police spokesman said: "We are keen to trace anyone in or near Rupert Street, around the time who saw or heard anything suspicious."

The victim was driving a black Volkswagen Golf GTI with a B-registration and a "For Sale" sign in the back window.

He managed to bring his car to a stop before passers-by came to his aid.
