Man held over 'abduction'

Police in Greater Manchester have arrested a man on suspicion of abducting a schoolgirl.

The girl was unexpectedly collected from outside Pendleton Baths, in Salford, at 1245 GMT on Thursday.

She had been having a swimming lesson with pupils from her school.

Police believed she may have been on her way to Scotland but she was discovered in Eccles shortly before 1900 GMT.

A 41-year-old man was arrested in Eccles and will be questioned later.
