Crash lorry lands in garden
The crashed lorries
The road will be closed again so the lorries can be removed
A lorry ended up in the back garden of a house in Surrey after it was in collision with another HGV.

Police said the accident happened on the A3 at Guildford at about 1040 GMT on Thursday.

Two articulated lorries travelling north struck each other just before the Dennis roundabout.

As a result one of the vehicles spun round, ploughed through a fence and ended up in a residential garden.

Woman suffered shock

One of the lorry drivers suffered serious injuries in the crash and was taken to the Royal Surrey County Hospital.

The other driver was also taken to hospital but his injuries are not thought to be as serious.

The elderly woman in whose garden the lorry landed was also taken to hospital suffering from shock after she saw the vehicle stop a metre from her conservatory.

The northbound carriageway of the A3 was shut by police because of the crash.

But they said one lane would be reopened at about 1630 GMT for five hours to allow traffic to pass.

The road would then be closed again from 2130 GMT to allow the lorries to be removed and the crash barriers repaired.

Motorists are being advised to avoid the A3 and the A31 because of disruption caused by the collision.

Police are appealing for anyone with information about the incident to contact them.
