Spanish drugs police arrest Briton

A British man is in custody in Spain after police seized cannabis believed to be worth nearly £11m.

Earle Thomas, 31, from Liverpool, was arrested on the Costa del Sol.

Up to 3,500kg of the drug were found in a raid at a warehouse in Alhaurin de la Torre, near Malaga Airport.

Spanish Police said it was one of the biggest ever hauls of the drug discovered.

The arrest followed a car chase, but police are still looking for two other Britons who allegedly escaped during the raid.

The warehouse had been placed under surveillance in October after officers became suspicious of a group of British men seen coming and going from the building.

The drugs were found stacked in 119 packages, each weighing about 30kgs, and are thought to have a street value of £10.7m.

The Costa Del Sol is considered the gateway to Europe for drugs imported across the Straits of Gibraltar from Morocco.
