Falconer lands ITV travel show

GMTV's Jenni Falconer has been confirmed as the host of ITV1's new holiday show, replacing Judith Chalmers as the channel's chief travel presenter.

Falconer will front travel series How To Holiday in the New Year, following the axing of Wish You Were Here.

"Everyone loves going on holiday but I never imagined being given this fantastic opportunity to travel the world for a living," said Falconer.

Falconer's co-host will be Dominic Littlewood from BBC shows To Buy Or Not To Buy and Wrong Car, Right Car.

Oscar-winner to receive cinematographer prize

Oscar-winner Irwin Winkler is to be honoured with the American Society of Cinematographers' Board of Governors Award.

The 72-year-old will receive the honour on 8 February, 2004, in recognition of his decades in the movie industry as both a producer and director.

"Irwin Winkler has earned the admiration and respect of our members for his extraordinary work as a producer and director of artful and meaningful films that linger in your memory long after you have seen them,» Owen Roizman, chairman of the awards committee said.

Winkler won a best picture Oscar for 1976's Rocky, which he co-produced with Robert Chartoff. His producing credits also include The Right Stuff, GoodFellas and The Shipping News.

Airport honour for Hope

Burbank airport in Los Angeles may be renamed in memory of US comic legend Bob Hope.

The company in charge of using his name has agreed with officials to honour the entertainer, who died in July aged 100.

A group of councils that run the California airport still have to approve the name change.

Other famous US citizens immortalised at the nation's airports include actor John Wayne and presidents Ronald Reagan and John F Kennedy.
