A three-year-old girl has died from influenza in Worcester, health officials have announced.
In a statement South Worcestershire Primary Care Trust confirmed the girl's death on Friday afternoon.
They are warning parents to be on their guard for symptoms.
These include a sudden high fever, severe chills, muscle aches, a dry cough and headache, a sore throat and runny nose.
Young children may also suffer from vomiting and diarrhoea.
Health officials said several of the girl's relatives also have flu-like illnesses but both adults and children are said to be making a good recovery.
Flu vaccinations are offered to all adults over 65, as well as adults and children whose immunity is reduced.
This includes those with serious heart and lung problems.
