New brew for Bristol
Beer
The beer has a malty taste, says Mr Newman
A Bristol entrepreneur has opened a new brewery in North Somerset to cater for the real ale trade.

Tom Newman, 28, is producing Wolves Ale in converted buildings at his family house in Banwell - reportedly the first brewery in the village for more than 100 years.

He aims to produce between 15 and 20 barrels of the 4.1% ale a week, but told BBC News Online that production could rise if necessary.

He said: "We sold out in our first week. If demand continues to increase, we will have to move to larger premises.

"I could see a demand for a good, local beer. As I have been home-brewing for 10 years, I thought, 'why not?'

"A good number of local pubs have taken the beer on and we could push out further if it takes off."

Mr Newman, who works part time in the water industry, financed the project himself.
