100-year-old mugged
A 100-year-old woman was mugged outside a Luton post office for a handbag which contained just a small amount of cash.

Bedfordshire Police said on Thursday that the woman had been robbed by a driver of a car who pulled up beside her as she left the post office in Culverhouse Road.

The driver snatched her handbag, causing the centenarian to fall to the ground, before driving off.

The woman, who has been too shocked to give officer full details about the incident, managed to stagger home where a friend called the police.

Dc Kerena Thomas appealed for anyone with information or who saw the robbery, which took place at about 1300 GMT on Tuesday, to call Luton police.
