Sex assault at station

A 15-year-old youth has been arrested by police investigating a sexual assault on a woman at a suburban railway station in Leeds.

The incident happened just before 0200 GMT on Thursday on steps leading down to Burley Park station in the north of the city.

A 20-year-old woman had been walking home with friends, but was alone when someone is said to have spoken to her, grabbed her and committed the sexual assault.

She was taken to hospital for treatment.

West Yorkshire Police and British Transport Police have been carrying out forensic investigations at the station which is on the Harrogate to Leeds line.

The youth is being questioned at Weetwood police station.
