Man in 'death plunge'
A street in Liverpool city centre was sealed off on Thursday after a man's body was found.

Police were called just after 0600 GMT following reports the man had fallen to his death from a building.

The man's body was found next to the building, which is between Princes Street and North John Street.

Merseyside Police said another man was arrested at the scene, on suspicion of burglary.

Street closed

A spokeswoman said the body of the man - who was thought to be in his mid 40s - was discovered close to the former Royal Insurance building.

"Crime scene investigators are at the scene and the street has been cordoned off," she said.

The coroner was informed and the man was pronounced dead at the scene, just after 0700 GMT.

A Home Office pathologist is due to carry out a post-mortem examination on the man's body later on Thursday.

The arrested man, who is 39 and from Anfield, is being held at a Merseyside police station, where he is due to be questioned by detectives.
