Dog-walker had stab wounds
Police are investigating the death of a 65-year-old man whose body was found with stab wounds in a cemetery.

Officers discovered Jack Gibson at Scarborough's Dean Road cemetery, after his wife reported that he had not returned from walking the dog.

She went to the police station at 2015 GMT on Thursday to report that her husband had gone missing after leaving their home in Cambridge Road about two hours earlier.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "As she spoke, a member of the public came in with the dog which she had found in the cemetery."

Cemetery search

Officers mounted a search and found the man's body 20 minutes later.

A post-mortem examination has been carried out and stab wound were found although police have yet to confirm these were the cause of Mr Gibson's death.

Officers searched the cemetery on Friday for evidence and conducting house-to-house inquiries in the area.

Police want to hear from anyone who saw the man walking his dog, a predominantly white terrier-type, between his home and the cemetery.

Mr Gibson's family has issued a statement saying that he was a "wonderful husband and grandfather".
