BBC East takes television prizes
Stewart White
Stewart White has presented Look East since 1984
Work by the BBC in the eastern counties was recognised at the Royal Television Society (RTS) awards on Thursday night.

There were six awards for BBC, with Look East presenter Stewart White winning Television Personality of the Year.

He shared the award with John Peel, the radio presenter who made a film for Anglia television.

Nick Waterworth and Martin Giles both won awards for their camera work, and Andy Holland was recognised for his work as a picture editor.

Work by Clive Lewis was rewarded with the Best Newcomer to Television Journalism award.

BBC East won the Regional Programme of the Year with a documentary entitled "Made in Luton".

Graham Barrell, the RTS East Anglia Centre secretary said: "The Royal Television Society is very pleased to recognise and honour the region's best television talent."

The Television Society was formed in 1927, nine years before the first public service broadcast from Alexandra Palace.

It was given its Royal title in 1966.
