Woman dies in wrong-way crash
A woman died has died when her car was involved in a head-on collision on the M4 in Wiltshire.

Police were called to the motorway at 2040 GMT on Thursday after reports that a car had been seen travelling the wrong way on the eastbound carriageway.

By the time they arrived, a red Ford van and an Escort had collided near junction 17.

Joan Gover, the 73-year-old driver of the Ford Escort, from Chippenham, suffered fatal injuries.

The motorway was closed for three hours while police examined the scene.

Officers say the van had overtaken a heavy goods vehicle shortly before the accident.

They have appealed for the HGV driver to contact them.
