Weapons found on wasteground

Two guns and ammunition have been found on wasteground in north Belfast.

Police discovered the arms during a search at Prestwick Park in the Oldpark area on Friday morning.

In south Belfast, two handguns were recovered following a security operation.

The guns and a small amount of ammunition were found in the garden of a house in the Cromwell Road area at 2100 GMT on Thursday.

They have been taken away for further examination.

Police have appealed for anyone with information about the weapons to contact them.
