Tributes have been paid to the toddler who was killed in a primary school car park by people in Pwllheli who have used a word with a special meaning to the area to remember him .

Two-year-old Huw Emyr Roberts has been described as someone who was 'selog' - a term of affection.

The little boy's death, after a supply teacher reversed a car into his buggy at Ysgol Cymerau on Wednesday morning, has shocked the close-knit community.

A special tribute was paid to him at the school on Thursday by some children and the vicar of Pwllheli, Reverend Ainsley Griffiths.

"The children tell me there was always a smile on his face," said Reverend Griffiths.

"There is a word in Welsh 'selog,' which that has a special meaning in Pwllheli, which has been used to describe him.

Reverend Griffiths said it was a 'harrowing' time for the school

"It means a mixture of someone who is cute, happy, bright and good to be around.

"There are all sorts of positive and warm memories of him next to the great sadness for the school and for the town.

The toddler's mother had been dropping off his sister at the school when the accident happened.

"The children came to where the accident happened and I spent a few moments with them for them to show their feelings and memories of the little boy."

"Some of them have been affected and some of them were related to him.

"It is very, very harrowing and traumatic time for all the children and staff and there are all sorts of emotions at the school.

"The mood at the school is sad but there are also happy memories of him for those who knew him."

Flowers and a little toy teddy bear have been left outside the school's gates.

Most of the messages are in Welsh - but one reads in translation.

"In memory of Huw. Two angels wings amongst the stars. God bless him and his family," reads the card in English.
