Dentist given second chance
A dentist who was struck off for being a cocaine addict has been allowed back into the profession.

Rajesh Parmar, 32, took the street name "Face", smoked crack cocaine and ferried prostitutes in his car.

His family, friends and colleagues were unaware of his activities in Leicester's Highfields area.

But Mr Parmar told the General Dental Council on Thursday he is now free from drugs and ready to return to dentistry at his previous practice in Nottingham.

He has been working as a double glazing salesman for the last two years and regularly goes to Narcotics Anonymous meetings, the hearing heard.

Mr Parmar, of West Knighton, Leicester, was struck off in February 2001 after being reported to the General Dental Council.

But on Thursday the dentist described himself as an "addict in remission" and gave undertakings to ensure his rehabilitation is complete

Committee chairman Professor John Scott said: "The committee has taken particular note of the voluntary undertakings you have given in respect of continued medical supervision and a supervised gradual integration into dental practice."
