'Pirated' software seized
More than £5,000 worth of CDs believed to contain pirated computer software were seized in a raid by trading standards officers.

Officers used a search warrant to get access to a house in Shipston-on-Stour, Warwickshire on Tuesday morning.

CDs were found containing computer console games, business software, music and films.

It is estimated the haul would be worth £100,000 if it were genuine.

The raid was carried out with the assistance of Warwickshire Police and came about after a tip-off.

Noel Hunter, director of Warwickshire Trading Standards, said: "Those who believe they are not committing a serious offence by manufacturing and selling counterfeit computer software should remember that, as a result of successful prosecutions taken by this department, several traders received custodial sentences.

"We will act to protect the interests of genuine Warwickshire businesses."
