A man has died after collapsing in the cells at a magistrates' court.
Robert Turnbull, 44, of Scarborough, was being held in custody as he waited to appear before magistrates on undisclosed charges on Wednesday.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said he had been arrested on Wednesday morning on a magistrates' warrant.
That lunchtime, Mr Turnbull was discovered "in a collapsed condition" by security staff in the cells at the town's court building.
He was taken to Scarborough General Hospital but pronounced dead on arrival.
A postmortem examination was being carried out on Thursday.
