Police said the man and his car were hit several times on Rupert Street, Nechells, at about 2030 GMT on Tuesday.

Charlie Sylvester, a musician who teaches classes in the area, said he was scared for the safety of local children.
"Kids come down here every day and my last class is in the evening when children as young as ten come down here and this kind of thing is happening.
"I'm scared, I'm scared for the kids."
Resident Beatrice Mason said shootings were becoming a regular occurrence.
"I would say they happen here every fortnight, if not weekly, I'm just getting used to it.
"I'm not saying it's right, I'm just getting used to it."
The victim was driving a black Volkswagen Golf GTI with a B-registration and a "For Sale" sign in the back window.
Police say they do not have any information about a possible
motive.
