Farmers have been urged to be vigilant after a sheep was found with both its ears cut off on the Isle of Skye.
The animal had also been stabbed when it was discovered in the Elgol area of the island on Sunday.
The mutilated sheep was found by its owner and examined by a vet.
A Northern Constabulary spokesman said: "It is believed that the injuries to
the animal were not accidental and we are therefore appealing for anyone who may have information regarding this incident to come forward.
"We would also ask local sheep owners to check their animals in order to
ensure that none have been similarly injured."
