Residents object to housing plan
People living in Syston in Leicestershire, say plans for 340 new homes need to be scaled down.

The plans have already been revised twice but residents say the estate would put too much pressure on schools, doctors surgeries and roads.

Leicestershire County Council and two neighbouring parish councils are also objecting to the proposals.

Charnwood Borough councillors have been advised by planners to approve the site around Barkby Road.

Two cars

Avril Mansfield, whose house backs onto fields where the homes would be built said: "When we moved in here 20 years ago we knew there was going to be development at some point, but its the extent of the development.

"I think 340 houses with two cars per house minimum and all those children in there as well is going to have a big impact."

Charnwood Borough Council planners say the developer would be required to improve roads and contribute to schools, doctors surgeries and other amenities.

The proposals will be decided at a meeting on Thursday.
