Body found in river

A man's body has been found in a river in Northampton.

The man, aged between 50 and 65, was discovered in the River Nene on Wednesday morning by staff at Avon Cosmetics in the Midsummer Meadow area of the town.

Divers from Thames Valley Police were called in to recover the body which has now been identified as a man who had been missing from his home in the town.

Northamptonshire Police said they were not treating the death as suspicious.

A formal identification was to take place on Thursday after the completion of a post mortem examination.
