Teen held over attempted murder
A teenager is in custody in connection with the attempted murder of a 55-year-old motorist.

Police say a man was attacked and his car was stolen in the Western Shore area of Southampton in Hampshire, about midnight GMT on Tuesday, 28 October.

He sustained multiple injuries and was treated in hospital.

A 19-year-old, from Southampton, was stopped in a green Peugeot car by patrol officers in the village of Southwick, near Fareham, at about 0105 GMT on Tuesday.

He is being questioned at Fareham police station, along with a 17-year-old youth, from Purbrook, who was also in the vehicle.

The youth was arrested on suspicion of theft of a car.
