90-year-old assaulted at home
A 90-year-old man was assaulted and burgled by two men who broke into his Northampton home.

The elderly man, from the St James area of the town, was pushed to the ground by the burglars after they broke into his property at about 2130 GMT on Tuesday.

Northamptonshire Police said the man suffered minor injuries during the incident at an address off Duston Road, where an undisclosed amount of money was stolen.

Officers have appealed for any with information about the burglars, who were both white men with local accents, about 19 years old and dressed smartly, to contact Northampton police.

A spokesman said: "Obviously this would have been a very distressing ordeal for such an elderly man in his home, and officers are keen to trace those responsible as a matter of urgency."
