Dog attack heroine honoured
Doberman
The dog was a doberman and has since been destroyed
A woman who saved a 10-year-old girl and her family from a dog attack is being given an award for her bravery.

Julie Goldie, from Sunningdale in Berkshire, will be joined by 11 other people at a ceremony hosted by Thames Valley Police.

Ms Goldie was driving her children home when she noticed a doberman attacking a family walking their dog.

The doberman had flown at the little girl, biting into her arm and not letting her go.

Ms Goldie jumped out of the car and hit it with an umbrella until it ran away.

The dog was found later and put down, and its owner was prosecuted for allowing a dangerous dog to be out of control.

Other people being commended in the ceremony on Wednesday will include police officers and support staff.
