Man dies in house fire

A man has died in a house fire in Blackburn.

Emergency services were called to Longton Street in the town late on Wednesday afternoon.

Fire crews arrived at the scene to find a number of distressed neighbours outside the house.

A few minutes later the badly burned body of a man was found inside the building.

Police say that, due to the extent of the man's injuries, he has not yet been formally identified.

But he is understood to be a 27-year-old who lived in the house.

Investigations into the cause of the fire are continuing, but there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.
