Body found in river
A man's body has been found in a river in Northampton.

The man, aged between 50 and 65, was discovered in the River Nene on Wednesday morning by staff at Avon Cosmetics in the Midsummer Meadow area of the town.

Divers from Thames Valley Police were called in to recover the body, but as yet there have been no clues to identify the man.

Northamptonshire Police said they were not treating the death as suspicious, but needed help find out who he was.

Clothing clues

Detective Sergeant Jeff Winfield said: "We believe he entered the water at some time either Tuesday evening or overnight."

The white man was described as having a large build, with thinning grey hair and was wearing large brown-rimmed glasses marked with the word "Safilo".

He was wearing a white or cream short-sleeved polo shirt and a button-up Highland Glen cardigan which had multi-coloured stripes.

He was also wearing a blue waist-length anorak, black jogging bottoms, blue deck shoes and a silver watch.
