The girls were buried at a private ceremony at Pocklington cemetery
Three young sisters who died in a house fire in Goole have been buried after a funeral service in Pocklington.

Samantha, six, Joanne, three, and 17-month-old Bethany Appleton died when fire swept through their home in the early hours of 12 November.

Their mother Louise Appleton survived.

The service was held at All Saints' Church in Pocklington and representatives from the Humberside Fire and Rescue Service attended to pay their respects.

Funeral
About 100 people attended the 30 minute service

During the service, the congregation sang three hymns.

One of them, Kum Ba Yah, was a favourite at Pasture Primary School in Goole where Samantha was a pupil.

The Vicar of Pocklington, the Reverend Chris Simmons, told BBC Look North: "They wouldn't describe themselves as a very religious family.

"But there is a faith that is helping them and that is giving them strength."

An inquest into their deaths was opened and adjourned in Hull on 21 November.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
