Christmas crime crackdown
Hull residents are being warned to be extra vigilant against burglars over the festive season.

Every year people fall victim to thieves who break into their homes and steal valuable items that have been bought or given as Christmas gifts.

This year police are hoping to crackdown on seasonal crime by advising people not to keep their presents on show.

A spokeswoman for Humberside Police said: "Gifts should be stored in a safe place and out of sight from any passers-by or callers to the house.

"Householders are also urged to take extra care with their home security and keep the doors and windows of their house locked - even when at home."

Other recommended security measures include closing your curtains at night, using timers to activate lights when you are out and marking property with security pens.
