Studio theatre set for closure
Wolsey Studio Theatre
The Studio is set to remain closed for three years
A theatre in Suffolk, set up for new and experimental work, looks set to remain in darkness for most of the next three years.

Managers at The New Wolsey Theatre in Ipswich say they have not got the funds to run the studio space in St George's Street in the town.

A spokesman for the theatre said managers are pleased that they managed to rescue the main theatre which was closed in 1999 because of financial problems.

But that success has not extended to the Wolsey Studio in St George's Street.

Over the next three years, the studio is likely to remain closed due to financial constraints, the spokesman added.

He conceded that those who like new and experimental work will miss out, but they said the management's hands are tied.
