Spurned killer jailed
A man from Manchester who killed his girlfriend because she wanted to end their relationship has been jailed for seven years.

Trevis Anderson was cleared of murder but convicted of manslaughter at Manchester Crown Court.

The court heard that Anderson and his girlfriend Ann Mulhall were both alcoholics and used to spend their days together drinking.

But their relationship was a violent one with 40-year-old Anderson often seeking to control his partner.

Drinking spree

In January this year, Anderson attacked his partner during a drinking spree at their flat in Lancaster Court, Newton Heath after she told him she wanted to end the relationship.

Ms Mulhall, 48, died from wounds to the abdomen as a result of stamping or kicking.

Anderson later told police that he did not deserve to live because of what he had done.

In sentencing him to seven years for manslaughter, Mr Justice Mackay described the killing as a classic case of domestic violence.
