Aircraft firm in schools talks
Boeing 767
The link with Boeing could make engineering careers more attractive
Schoolchildren in South Yorkshire could soon be working on projects with one of the world's most famous companies.

Aircraft builders Boeing are in talks about how they can form a partnership with local schools.

The scheme is part of the EU's Objective One programme that aims to regenerate some of Europe's poorest areas, including South Yorkshire.

A spokesman for Boeing UK Ltd said: "We will be looking at activities such as introducing real industrial, engineering and commercial problems into school projects."

The idea is to equip pupils with new skills and make careers in engineering more attractive.

If the scheme is a success it could be rolled-out to other parts of Britain

Frances Adams from Objective One in South Yorkshire said: "Partnership with companies of world renown, like Boeing, will help influence the career choices of the region's brightest young talent."
