Man in court over street attack
A 31-year-old man has appeared in court charged in connection with an attack outside a Shrewsbury pub which has left another man critically ill in hospital.

Paul Anthony Wallis appeared at Shrewsbury Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

He is accused of maliciously causing grievous bodily harm to 42-year-old Mark Goodsell outside the Rock and Fountain pub, in Castle Foregate, on Sunday.

The case was committed to Shrewsbury Crown Court and Mr Wallis, of Mount Pleasant Road, Shrewsbury, was remanded in custody.

Mr Goodsell remains on a life support machine at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.

Police are also questioning two 16-year-old youths, who have not been named, in connection with the incident.
