This week's forum: improving where you live
|
Welcome to this Breakfast Interactive Forum page.
Each week, we take a closer look at an issue in the news - and answer your emails on it in a special 15 minute programme.
We will publish details on the time and subject of our next interactive forum in time for you to send us an e-mail and take part.
You can watch the forum live on Digital Satellite TV - or access a recording through this page.
November 5: iCAN
Is your local environment making you frustrated? Breakfast has all this week been hearing from people who have found nuisances such as noise and litter difficult to bear.
Well, you don't have to suffer in silence. A new BBC website, called iCAN aims to give power back to ordinary people, by helpiong them form their own campaign groups.
The BBC has launched a new website called iCan. It aims to give us the tools with which to campaign for change.
We put your questions to Martin Vogel, one of the brains behind the project and to Mark Rogers from the
Kennington Association. We also talked to Maria Shortis who is a founder member of Bristol Heart Action Group and is currently campaigning for greater accountability within the National Health Service.
The iCAN website gives information on how to launch a campaign on anything - from whether your street should become a residents-only parking zone, to finding the best school for your child.
You can also post a message on the site, to see whether other people in your local area share your concerns.
It's the first venture of its sort anywhere on the net, as far as we're aware.
