Man shot on own doorstep
Police at the scene
The yard behind some shops has been taped off
Police are investigating a shooting in Bingham which left a man with leg injuries.

A yard behind a group of shops and flats off the Market Place has been cordoned off.

Scenes of crime officers are examining the area.

The injured man was taken to hospital but his wounds are not thought to be life threatening.

It is understood the man lives in a flat above a shop and was shot on his own doorstep.

One eye witness was going to work at 0600 GMT as a cook at a residential centre.

Margaret Morcroft said: "As I was thinking what to do the police cars came and the ambulance.

"They changed their tops, got their guns and went to the scene."

Only one shot is thought to have been fired.

House to house enquiries are being carried out and a detailed search of the surrounding area is also underway.
