Murder probe after gang attack

Police have issued an appeal for information
A murder inquiry has been launched after a man died following an attack by a gang in a street.

Gerald Barnes, 44, died at the scene of the assault outside a house in Cumbrae Crescent South, Dumbarton, at about 1910 GMT on Tuesday.

Detective Chief Inspector Kenny Waters, of Strathclyde Police, is leading the murder hunt.

He said: "I would like to speak to anyone who was in the area and may have witnessed the attack or seen the persons responsible running away from the scene."

Police said that Mr Barnes lived at Napier Crescent in Dumbarton.
