Rebel no more

You may have spotted Peter Hain in the procession at the state opening of Parliament.
He was the one in the lounge suit walking next to Lord Falconer.
Mr Hain was there in his role as Lord Privy Seal, one of several posts he holds alongside his jobs as secretary of state for Wales and leader of the House of Commons.
Unlike the lord chancellor, Mr Hain didn't get to dress up like an extra from a Gilbert and Sullivan operetta.
He did his best not to look too pleased with his latest role in the British establishment, but it was probably the most vivid example of his transformation from protest rebel to New Labour minister.
