Train travellers face disruption
Rail projects will mean disruption and delays around East Anglia at the weekend and into next week.

Train operator West Anglia Great Northern (WAGN) is replacing signal boxes in Essex and Hertfordshire and Anglia Railways is cancellings scheduled maintenance at points further north.

WAGN passengers travelling between Audley End and Hertford East/Broxbourne, between Whittlesford and Royston and between St Margarets and Roydon/Harlow Town will be offered a bus service.

Buses will run between Bishops Stortford, Stansted Mountfitchett and Stansted Airport for local journeys to and from the airport.

Signalling system

The airport will be served by coaches direct from London on Saturday and Sunday, and by train from London to Chingford for a connecting coach service, on Monday and Tuesday.

Mark Evans, route director for WAGN, apologised for the delays.

He said the work is the latest stage in an £85m project to modernise the whole signalling system on its west Anglia route.

Mr Evans said: "We recognise that many more people travel on weekdays and we have tried to avoid disrupting commuting journeys wherever possible.

"But we are taking the opportunity to complete the remaining work in one go and therefore reduce the overall impact on all of our passengers."
