Harbour chiefs face censure
Ferry
The ferry is due to arrive in the harbour on Tuesday morning
Jersey's Harbours and Airport Committee is facing a vote of no confidence in the States on Tuesday.

Senator Ted Vibert has lodged a proposition following the decision to impound Emeraude Lines' car ferry, Solidor Five.

The ferry was seized for non-payment of harbour dues.

Although it was subsequently released, Senator Vibert claims the action has damaged Jersey's relations with France.

Public meetings

Senator Len Norman, president of the Harbours and Airport Committee, told BBC Radio Jersey he would respond to the proposition when it was debated in the States.

States Members will also be lobbied by people angry about the way the company was treated.

Members of the Save Emeraude Group gathered in Royal Square from 0800 BST on Tuesday.

The Solidor 5 is due in at the harbour on Tuesday morning and the group's chairman Sean Power hopes there will be some French people on board who will also join the protest.

The group was set up in the wake of the public meetings called when Solidor Five was impounded.

Emeraude filed for bankruptcy in a St Malo court on 2 October and was given three months to sort out its finances.
