Man jailed for killing brother-in-law
A 23-year-old man who murdered his teenage brother-in-law has been jailed for life.

Shane Manson, of Mill Hill Street, Blackburn, Lancashire, was found guilty on a majority verdict at Preston Crown Court on Thursday.

He had denied killing 19-year-old Eamon McDonough, who died from head injuries in January 2003.

Manson had claimed his brother-in-law had been attacked during a night out by four unidentified men and that he had hid in bushes, fearing for his life.

The jury was told Mr McDonough had suffered head injuries which were probably the result of being kicked and stamped on. He died in hospital.

The prosecution claimed Manson had later admitted his guilt to a family member, a claim the defence team said was incorrect.

The judge Mr Justice Crane said the only sentence available to him was life imprisonment.
