100 call centre jobs to go
A directory inquiries phone service has announced the loss of 100 jobs in Dumfries.

Double One Double Eight Double Six, an offshoot of the German Group Telegate, created almost 500 jobs when the 192 BT service was deregulated in August.

At that time the company said it was well-positioned to be a leading player in the market.

The company's call centre in Dumfries, its first in the UK, was described as a "shot in the arm" for the town.
