A Nottinghamshire Police officer, responding to an emergency call, struck a man believed to be in his 60s at around 1100 BST on Thursday.

The man was crossing Vernon Road in Basford when the incident happened.

He was taken to hospital but died of his injuries soon afterwards.

The incident was voluntarily referred by Nottinghamshire Police to the Police Complaints Authority, who will supervise the investigation.
