Children learn to be model citizens
More than 600 children are taking part in an event aimed at educating them about crime and personal safety.

The Right Track Junior Citizens' Programme is being held at Ascot Racecourse until 24 October.

Local authorities, the police and the fire service will all be on hand to offer expert advise.

The schoolchildren from Bracknell, Windsor and Maidenhead will learn about personal safety and how to assess when they are in danger.

'Serious message'

Children will also learn about fingerprinting, forensic science, and first-aid training.

Chief Superintendent Adrian Becks, from Thames Valley Police, said: "The programme is very full and imaginative, combining fun activities with very serious messages about community and personal safety.

"There will be a strong focus on good citizenship and crime reduction as children are advised on issues that may affect the safety of themselves or others."

The five-day event is aimed at children aged 10 and 11 in the Thames Forest area.
