Rush hour motorists faced delays to the their journey because of a major lorry fire on the M20 motorway.
Police were forced to close the entire London-bound carriageway of the motorway at 0800 BST on Monday.
The incident, involving an articulated lorry carrying waste paper, happened between junctions six and five, near Maidstone.
Two lanes of the road have now re-opened. The remaining lanes remain closed as efforts are made to recover the burnt out vehicle.
Kent Police say the incident led to six miles of tailbacks to junction eight.
No-one was injured and it is not yet known what caused the fire.
The motorway is expected to fully re-open this afternoon.
