New lead over missing Donna
Donna Healey
Forensic experts may be close to solving the Donna Healey mystery
Detectives investigating the disappearance of a Bradford teenager 15 years ago may be close to solving the mystery.

Donna Healey, 18 at the time, from Roxby Street, Little Horton, was last seen alive in Leeds in March 1988.

On Thursday officers told Ms Healey's family the development had come as a result of forensic testing relating to a body found in the Chapel Allerton area of Leeds in January 1991.

Detectives took a number of items from the house in the hope they would help positively identify the body as Donna.

Now the police team must wait for a month for the results of those tests and comparisons to be analysed. Meanwhile the Leeds coroner has been informed.

Family suffering

Officers are now appealing for information about Donna's movements in March 1998.

Detective Inspector Chris Binns said: "Donna's family has suffered greatly over the years, not knowing what has happened to their daughter.

"Obviously they now face the next few weeks waiting to hear if it was Donna's body that was found.

"We have a specially trained family liaison officer helping them through this difficult time."

And police say people may be able to cast their mind back to the time as Kylie Minogue was in the charts with "I should be so lucky", Prince Charles was injured in a skiing accident and Percy Thrower died.
