Man bailed after murder
A man arrested in connection with the murder of a man in Blackpool has been released by police.

On Thursday Lancashire Police confirmed the man, detained following Patrick Murphy's death on Tuesday, has been released on police bail.

Mr Murphy died 12 hours after he was discovered collapsed outside his home in the town.

Mr Murphy, 42, of Normoss Avenue, Blackpool, sustained serious head and facial injuries, and died at the town's Victoria Hospital.

Critical condition

Detectives said he had been drinking in various pubs on Monday night before the attack at about 0200 BST, in Elizabeth Street, on Tuesday.

Officers found him lying in Normoss Avenue, in a critical condition, at about 0900 BST.

It is understood he made his way along Talbot Road before collapsing close to his home.

Results of a postmortem examination by a Home Office pathologist are due to be released later.
