Diabetes warning over festivals
Diabetic test
People can walk in and have a test straight away
People from ethnic minority backgrounds in Nottinghamshire are being warned of potential health problems associated with diabetes.

Pharmacists say two forthcoming religious festivals could put some in unnecessary danger.

As Ramadan and Diwali approach, south Asian communities are being warned to have their blood sugar levels tested ahead of any fasting or feasting.

Health professionals are backing a series of clinics at high street chemists, including one in Bulwell on Monday.

Lynden Close, from the Burrows and Close Pharmacy on Ilkeston Road said: "It is there, it's on the high street.

"It is also available all day so anyone can come in without an appointment.

"They can see a healthcare professional who will be able to give them advice."

Anyone visiting a clinic will have their blood glucose measured and advice is available in different languages.
