Cyclist dies in crossing crash

The 35-year-old man died after a road collision in Merthyr Tydfil

Police are appealing for witnesses after a cyclist died after hitting a beacon on a pedestrian crossing in Merthyr Tydfil.

The 35-year-old man died after an incident opposite the Norton pub in High Street, Penydarren, at 1620 BST on Saturday.

He fell from his cycle when it collided with the metal beacon stand of a pedestrian crossing.

The cyclist suffered fatal head injuries.

South Wales Police are appealing for any witnesses to contact them at Treforest on 01656 655555.
