A man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a prostitute found dead in a lake in a Bristol park.
The body of mother-of-two Nadine Hillier, 25, was found by a fisherman at Eastville Park last Tuesday morning.
A post-mortem examination revealed she had died of internal injuries following what police called "a terrible beating".
A 37-year-old man from Gloucester was arrested at 1000 BST on Tuesday and is being questioned at Staple Hill police station in Bristol.
Police investigating the death of Ms Hillier have appealed for people who were in the Eastville Park area on the evening of Monday 13 October and the early hours of the following day to contact them.
The park is often used by gay men looking for sex with other men and officers have assured them they can come forward anonymously.
Detective Chief Inspector Stephen Tunks said: "We would still like to hear
from men who have gone to Eastville Park to meet other men for sex on the
relevant day, as very few have so far come forward with information."
A special phone line has been set up, with the help of the Terrence
Higgins Trust, for people who may be reluctant to speak to the police.
All calls to the hotline - 0780 0554261 - are confidential.
