A police officer has been suspended from duty after being questioned in connection with an alleged indecent assault on a 15-year-old girl.
The unnamed officer, based at Thorpe Wood Police Station in Peterborough, was arrested by fellow officers in the Cambridgeshire force.
He was released on bail on Thursday, but a police spokesman said the officer has been suspended while investigations continue
The officer was taken to Huntingdon Police Station, where he was questioned by detectives from the force's Professional Standards Department.
The spokesman said the assault was alleged to have taken place in June 2003, and has no connection with any police proceedings.
